Reed bed l

While browsing through my phone gallery, I came across photos I had taken three years ago during my last visit to the wetlands of Sic. They instantly brought back the sense of peace and quiet reflection this special place always seems to offer.

It is a place that means a lot to me and to the people close to me, even though it is only a short drive from home. And yet, what fascinates me is that the same landscape is never really the same. We see it differently depending on where we are in life, on our state of mind, and on the experiences we carry with us. Today we notice one thing; a year from now, we may see something entirely different, and in ten years, the very same view may tell us a completely new story.

This idea gave rise to a series of works inspired by the beauty and atmosphere of this place. The first is this acrylic painting on canvas, measuring 20 x 50 cm - an unusual format for me, one that challenged me to compose the landscape in a different way and to highlight the perspective and stillness of the path disappearing into the reeds.
